Short answer
A focused leadership skill can be introduced in a half- or full-day workshop, but meaningful application usually needs follow-through over several weeks. Leadership transitions, cross-market capability or complex behaviour change often require a multi-month journey with practice, coaching and review.
Use the behaviour as the clock
Ask how often participants encounter the target situation and how many practice cycles are needed before progress can be observed.
Create spacing for application
Time between sessions is useful when participants have a clear workplace task and return ready to reflect on what happened.
Avoid duration without intensity
A long programme is not automatically deep. Every stage should have a clear purpose, action and connection to the next stage.

Behaviour complexity
Frequency of real application

Frequently asked questions
01Is shorter always more efficient?
Only if the learning goal is narrow. Compressing a complex transition into one session may reduce calendar time but not build capability.
02How far apart should modules be?
Enough time for meaningful application, but not so much that continuity disappears. Two to four weeks is common, though the right cadence depends on the work.
03Can programmes be modular?
Yes. Modular design works well when every module supports a shared outcome and application continues between sessions.
